. northern virginia, trees and power lines down. thousands of customers still without power. >>> and we'll go now to gwen to give us an update on how things are looking this morning. >> good morning, melanie. very much a lot calmer today. last night was an extremely busy time in the weather center and most of the afternoon as well. we had tornado warning after tornado warning, under a severe thunderstorm watch for most of the day as well. lot of activity and you saw the damage there. let's go to the weather maps and show you what's been happening and where we stand right now. we begin with accuweather satellite radar composite. this storm hit our area, but right off the midatlantic. you can see the moisture and precipitation moving off into the atlantic. things are a lot drier and just a few lingering clouds. for us, not a bad day ahead. some of you may be seeing a little bit of patchy fog. here's an example of winds from yesterday, 58 mile-per-hour winds at reagan international airport. some of our neighborhoods saw winds stronger than that. with the storm, there were reports of fun
